QUERIES ABOUT SANANDAJ ASSASSINATIONS…
In Iran , two assassinations diverted the agenda at a
time when there were efforts to ease the political tension between the
reformists and conservatives. Mamosta Bourhan Ali, one of the prominent members
of the Sunnite sect in Sanandaj, the capital of Kurdistan Province , and Mamosta
Mohammad Sheikh al-Islam lost their lives in armed attacks respectively in
September 12 and 17, 2009. Mamosta Bourhan Ali had supported the Iranian
President Mahmud Ahmadinejad in the last presidential elections and headed the
committee comprising of Sunnite clerks in the mentioned province. Mamosta
Mohammad Sheikh al-Islam was the representative of the Assembly of Experts.
The action has not been claimed by any organization.
Sanandaj Governor, Mohammed Taqi Haidari said that the plot was organized by the
enemies in order to create the image that the region was still insecure. It is
stated in the assessments that the mentioned acts might have been conducted by
the opponent Kurdish groups desiring to accelerate the tension in the region.
As known, in Kurdistan province, the conflict between
the armed Kurdish groups and Iranian forces spread to the town centers last
month on the occasion of the anniversary of Khomeini’s fatwa “Jihad against
Kurds”. Therefore, the administration started to implement some security
measures valid for only Kurdistan province. Within the framework of the
application, a considerable part of the security forces across the Province is
being structured as “Special Security Units”. This application has led to the
reaction of the said groups, while the conflicts between the security forces and
the militants Kurdish Free Living Party (PJAK), Revolutionary Organization of
Kurdish Laborers (KOMALA) and Kurdish Democratic Party of Iran (IKDP). The IRGC
Commander Mohammad Ali Jafari explained that 45 terrorists were killed in the
operation carried out in Kurdistan Province .
Experts draw the attention to the fact that the
recent developments in the Kurdish province serve those who want to benefit from
the tense political atmosphere occurred following the Iranian elections.
