GHALIBAPH, LARIJANI, HADDAD… THREE ACROBATS ON THE SAME ROPE

The process in which the political power started to change in Iran is especially important when the upcoming presidential elections are taken into consideration. The divisions and groupings among conservatives show the situation of the state. That’s why the new parliamentary elections in a sense remind us of the attitude towards the Ahmadinejad government. Former Speaker of the Parliament, Haddad Adel’s opinions against Ahmadinejad in the last months and Larijani’s oppositions indicates that, these MP’s have some plans in the election of the new Speaker of the Parliament. Thus, appearing on the opposite side of Ahmadinejad and his supporters will become an interesting dimension to gain votes for the presidential candidacy.

On the other hand, reformists stated that the 8th parliament will not be similar to the 7th. They believe that the new parliament will intensify the criticism and thus will affect the election of the Speaker of the Parliament.

Haddad Adel, who most probably will run for the upcoming Presidential elections, considers that the only way to reach his goal is to be reelected as the Speaker of the Parliament. Another name who will be running for the Presidential elections is Larijani but in the game that will be approved also by Ghalibaph, he will prefer to be on Ghalibaph’s side instead of being his opponent. The real aim of them is to wipe out Ahmadinejad and his supporter milieu from the political scene.

It seems that the Parliamentary elections are vitally important for the upcoming Presidential elections. The milieu supporting Ahmadinejad put their efforts to protect his position but this won’t work because anyone who will be the Speaker of the Parliament will already be an opponent to Ahmadinejad.
